Most units nowadays feature metal halide bulbs, which are extremely energy-efficient, saving you time and money. You can expect these bulbs to perform up to the manufacturer’s standards and suggested life expectancies when used under “normal” conditions:

• 1,000-watt metal halide bulbs – 10,000 hours
• 1,250-watt metal halide bulbs – 7,000 hours

Whether you intend to purchase or rent a portable light tower, you should follow a few guidelines. To get the most out of every halide light bulb, make sure you purchase OEM bulbs from your specific light tower’s manufacturer. Store them in a clean environment and handle them with gloves as the natural oil from our hands can cause them to burn at higher temperatures, thus decreasing life expectancy.
